SPIRIT OF THE VALLEY

An abstract feeling ….In this painting I wanted to capture the “Spirit of the Valley” in an abstract way. The colours connect to the mood of Yarra Valley’s lively communities, rich in it’s, various cultures. The arts, food and wine intermingled with the tranquillity and soul of the surrounding landscape

Funny how things seem to workout. Recently I had a fall and broke my arm.

I have been wanting for ages to update my” Gallery” but, always find it too hard to drag myself away from the studio. Since breaking my arm though, I’ve had too slow down and take it easy. Over the past few weeks I have managed to use the computer with my left hand to upload more paintings, drawings  and sculpture for you to browse.

I offer all my art at studio prices, eliminating huge gallery and agent fees. I also offer “FREE WORLDWIDE SHIPPING” less, customs fees.

Saving you $100′s…

Please see Buyer Info

If you have any questions or would like to see a high resolution photo of a piece, please contact me at Outlook8studio and I will do my best to help you.

Hope you enjoy !

“Stimulate your senses.Suggestive and powerful abstract art with a spark, to generate new ways of thinking, to move and inspire us. Jenny Davis award winning, Australian Contemporary artist , paint’s what she feels. Bold and stunningly colorful abstract paintings, that reveals the power and brightness of color, through the different effects of form and texture which spring from the canvas.”

A BIT ABOUT MY VIRTUAL WORLDS

Outlook8 an interactive gallery space on Malt Island in Second Life.Malt island is created by Malt Design in Paris France.

About Outlook8

I created Outlook8 gallery space  because I was searching new ways of expression in a 2 and 3d form . I wanted to include motion and viewer participation. It was also the perfect way for me to connect with my daughter who lives on the other side of the world from me.

The whole space is the actual artwork not just the images on the walls. The avatar Genivieve Caproni is the 3d moving piece. As a visitor, you can interact with my pieces through conversation, movement, play and dance.

Genivieve can sell you art, talk about anything, just ask her. She can also take you shopping for fashion, a new hairstyle, funky furniture, or a take a stroll in the park go for a boat ride and so much more…..check it out at

SOME OF MY FOUND OBJECT SCULPTURE

DIARY ENTRY 2005“Surfaces tell the stories of History’s children. I travelled the surface of the battles. Napoleon and Hitler’s slaughter. The senseless bloodshed of scores of the Holy wars. As I entered the borders it invaded my skin, then, seeping into my soul, I saw where it happened over and over again. It clings to me and will stay.

In England I saw a ghost in nave at Canterbury Cathedral and visited the wonderful sea side village of Rye. Nearby the weird, bizarre but wonderful Dungeness. And the fantastic museum in Maidstone where I was the only one, creeping through the old corridors. I loved its ancientness.

In Spain, I felt the genius of Dali, Gaudi , Miro, Picasso and Antoni Tapies. The magic of Don Quixote, Flamenco, the dance and Catalan language.

I had fun with Tarrentino’s, Pulp Fiction in France and the beautiful city of Paris with its beautiful goldness, but no toilets. I fell in love with Venice , Florence and the Renaissance. The architecture cathedrals and more.”

COLLECTING

Collecting can become so addictive, especially for an artist. My found objects and things are the inspiration and starting point for most of my artwork and ideas. When I see something; it can trigger of an instant idea and give me a vision to work with.I think this is why I love museums too as display and arranging objects are an important part of my work.

I have been collecting since I was born. I used to hide stuff under my bed in boxes as a child .As an adult I’m still putting stuff into boxes and plastic bags and other strange things. I view my collections as arrangements. They are all art installations scattered around my place as well as material for use in my arts projects

Walking through the streets to the local shop I always come home with something foot trodden. A piece of paper, packaging, a bright piece of plastic, glass all will be used in my art eventually. When I travel overseas (much to the sometimes embarrassment to friends and family) I pick up off the ground, bottle tops, lolly papers, wires bright bits of plastic, even if an item disturbs me I’ll bring it home.On a tour once in Europe the whole busload of passengers collected bottle tops for me.

My stuff may brood for years in a dark space or cupboard till I come across it again sending me off on another project. On my last trip to Paris I came home with 15 kilo of junk. I collected baguette bags, bits of string, stones, free ad cards, labels from food items, torn posters, a book and papers from a bin.

All sorts of ephemera is precious to me. I collect found photographs, as they tell a story about people and places I’ll never know about.I make up my own stories. I collect found images, negatives, scientific stuff, equations, wire, tin, bones, animal skeletons, fur, hair, watches, old mobile covers, eye glasses, shrivelled things, found numbers and fonts from keyboards, magazines and advertising, boxes, packaging, all sorts paper, vintage clothes, fabrics, wall papers, shells, driftwood, snowglobes, toys, childrens books and so much more.

I go to op shops, cities, airports underground spaces ,beaches, garage sales, friends houses and sometimes, find stuff on EBay though, part of the fun and attraction for me is, the actual finding of a material that is discarded and thrown away. I like to recycle it into something else or, just show its beauty, as it is.

Collections of stuff are also extremally important for future generations, for History. 100′s years from now someone may come across my piece of fabric, wallpaper ,lolly paper, box ,bone etc that will give them information on of how we lived in our time, in our place.

Collections are also portraits of those who love to glean….. Check out Andy Warhol’s boxes and boxes of stuff he collected over his life time http://www.warhol.org/collections/archives.html
